"The Grap of wrath", John Steinbeck
Edition - ESADSE 2015
This book deals with the story of a farmer family during the Great Depression in United States.
The characters have to face many politic and social issues such as mechanisation, unemployment, immigration, waste, poverty or capitalism. Using their own words and naivety, they highlight the absurdity of the situation. In this edition, I focused on this political aspect. I chose to concentrate on the historical chapters and divided the selection in five parts, differentiated by the position of the text on the grid. Some striking sentences are put forward, play with the grid or can take over the text. They create a continuity and a rhythm all through the book. The lay out strengthens the weight of this text. The book becomes more historical and critical, undertaking its political and committed aspects, leaving aside
its novel side.
